For everyone who has heard the words “you have cancer”, here are the ten things you should do first. This is not meant to give medical advice, and please consult with your doctor before beginning anything new. I’ve met amazing people who have fought cancer and come out on top. This is research that I’ve done based on cancer survivor advise, and the many cancer books and websites I’ve read. I encourage you to do your own research, as I have done, to make sure this feels right for you.
#1 Find your foundation and your values. Take a deep breath, because your world just got turned upside down. It is normal to feel overwhelmed and not in control because you don’t have all the information yet. The information will come, and you will be guided. Look within to connect to a greater loving source to maintain your stability. We are all different and find what helps you feel closer to God, or whatever your source is that resonates with you. Reevaluate what your values are in life about yourself, your relationships, your money, the world around you, your family and your career. Look at everything in your life and clearly define your foundation so that you can plant your feet in this cement to find your rock. You may have never really looked at what defines your stable base and what is important to you, and you’ve got to go through the whole list. It takes time and insight but this will help you find your real stable base to help carry your through this difficult time.
For me, I began waking up early before the kids got up. I light candles and do a 10 minute meditation, and then I read my Bible or other spiritual reading while I drank my morning “coffee” mixture- more on that later. I look for quiet moments in the day to connect to my breath and quiet my always busy mind. After breakfast, I take 30 minute walks in nature. Sometimes I’d walk with friends, and sometimes I walked alone while listening to the Bible on audio. A nature walk helps me “process” things in my head and to get grounded again. In the evenings, take a bath with Epsom salts, essential oils, candles, and relaxing music. Soul search and know that you are not alone.
#2 Stop taking antioxidant vitamins, such as low dose oral vitamin C, vitamin E, and CoQ10. I know it sounds strange, but supplements you take for cancer prevention are entirely different from treating active cancer. When you have cancer, you actually need free radicals to kill your tumor cells. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and even intravenous high dose vitamin C each produce high amounts of free radicals that push cancer cell death. Antioxidants can help the cancer to hide, and keeps cancer cells alive by recycling master antioxidant glutathione.
#3 Don’t starve yourself. Start a low-glycemic, plant based diet. Ditch the sugar, limit meat and eggs. Eat wild caught fish like salmon and tuna as your animal protein source for cancer fighting omega-3s to reduce inflammation. I do intermittent fasting, and sources I’ve read said no eating past 3 pm but that is too strict for me. Instead I have my last meal by 6 pm and then eat a late breakfast.
Buy a blood glucose monitor and test your blood sugar before and after you eat. You’ll be surprised to see how your favorite meals affect your blood sugar level. A glucose monitor will help you see for yourself and make modifications to keep glucose levels down after meals. The key is to eliminate all inflammatory foods unique to your body. I did a personal Health and Gut Intelligence Test through Viome. Cancer loves an inflammatory environment, so with every meal ask yourself: does this meal help me weaken cancer or not? The goal is to feed your body and use off label drugs and supplements to starve the cancer (see #6).
#4 Make the recipes in Dr. Budwig’s Oil-Protein Diet. Dr. Johanna Budwig was a German scientist born in 1908 who was nominated for the Noble Prize 7 times for her work as the leading authority of oil and fats. Dr. Budwig developed a healing protocol based on a using a hand blender to emulsify a mixture of cottage cheese and flaxseed oil. She recommends to eat the mixture fresh everyday. Following her diet, along with doing sunbaths and gentle exercise is said to heal inflammatory conditions such as cancer, arthritis, and heart disease. Dr Budwig claims to have cured over 2,400 cancer patients with a 90% success rate under her care using her method.
Cancer cells need to produce inflammation to sustain their growth. According to the book called the Budwig Protocol, all normal cells require oxygen but the root cause of cancer is the lack of oxygen to the cells. Cancer cells get their energy by fermenting glucose and produce lactic acid making the body acidic. A chemical reaction occurs by emulsifying cottage cheese and flaxseed oil where the oil and protein bind and become water soluble. This mixture is better absorbed by the body and delivers oxygen to the cells.
#5 Read this book first: How to Starve Cancer by Jane McLelland. Its hard to start research when your head is spinning, but when you are ready, read Jane McLelland’s book. She survived stage 4 cervical cancer four times! Jane shares how she starved and weakened cancer before doing a cancer cell “kill” phase. Watch this YouTube video that interviews Jane to learn about her personal success in beating cancer.
I highly recommend her website that has an online course that will teach you everything. You will learn how to draft your own “Metro Map”. Watch Jane’s YouTube video that explains the process. Generally speaking you are looking up how to block the metabolic pathways unique to your type of cancer. Meaning you want to block what your type of cancer primarily pulls its fuel source from. Block that first, and then block all the minor pathways because cancer can shift its fuel source to find a new way to feed itself. Most cancers thrive on glucose, so that is why you need to follow a low glycemic diet. It is important to not only block glucose and carbohydrates, but at the same time you need to block cholesterol and fat, along with its protein source. Jane shows you hot to achieve this by taking certain supplements and off label drugs.
#6 Join Jane’s Facebook group: ‘Jane McLelland Off Label Drugs For Cancer’ for chats about various off label drugs helping to fight cancer. You will read the discussion of thousands of people who are managing their cancer through treatment and supplements. It is quite inspiring to read the success of thousands of people living their lives while managing their cancer, just like someone with diabetes and heart disease.
#7 Do gentle exercise as much as you can. According to Jane McLelland, the secret may not be how much time you spend exercising, but when you exercise. She says to exercise fifteen to twenty minutes after eating. According to Jane, a brisk walk pulls out glucose from the blood and redirects it to the muscles. This affects the micro-environment around the cancer cell to starve it. Exercise should be gentle, like walking and yoga, to lower cortisol, a stress hormone. Raised levels affect your immune system.
#8 Get tested for parasites to re-establish a healthy gut. There can be a link between cancer patients having parasites. A properly functioning immune system can prevent tumors from taking hold. I took a combination of Artemisia annua (also called Sweet wormwood) and Cryptolepis sanguinolenta. Both have traditional use against malaria and you can find them at most health food stores. I did this on my own and please consult your doctor first before doing this.
A study conducted by Frontiers in Medicine, gives a good description of these herbs. According to their study, Artemisia annua is a medicinal plant that has been used for medicinal purposes for over 2,000 years. Artemisinin is the active component and was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2015 for its role in treating malaria. Artemisinin’s antimicrobial properties are not completely understood, but is believed to be related to its ability to generate free radicals that damage proteins.
Cryptolepis sanguinolenta is a plant indigenous to Africa where it has been used in traditional medicine to treat malaria, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and septicemia. Cryptolepis sanguinolenta has been shown in preclinical studies to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-amoebic, and anti-malarial properties. Cryptolepis sanguinolenta is generally well-tolerated with few reported side effects in humans during its long-term use in parts of China and India.
Personally, I took these supplements in a two week cycle, meaning two weeks on and then two weeks off, because I noticed that I would start to get really tired. I would do a series of coffee hydro colonics to detox myself and my energy bounced back. Many cancer books talk about how to do coffee enemas at home, and that you should be doing them everyday. For me, I went to my local wellness center that offered coffee hydro colonics services.
Let me mention that my oncologist cautioned me against doing a detox program because she thought it would be too hard on my liver while taking infusion therapy. She said I could do it after treatment and surgery. I also read that artemisinin can be quite toxic and should be used under the guidance of a trained doctor.
#9 Talk to your doctor about certain prescriptions to help you fight cancer. The Care Oncology Clinic (COC) has helped thousands of patients. You would need to become a member and then you would work with a COC doctor that would prescribe the drugs to help you fight your type of cancer. COC nurses standby to give support along the way, and answer your questions. Generally how it works is the COC medication protocol is to prescribe Metformin (an old drug used for diabetes), a statin (lowers cholesterol), doxycycline (used to treat infections), and Mebendazole (used to treat intestinal parasitic worm infections such as pinworm, roundworm, and hookworm). These four drugs work together to disrupt cancer cell growth and place the cancer under ‘metabolic stress’ leading to programmed cancer cell death.
#10 Look into getting a portable at-home ozone machine. I met with a holistic doctor who recommended I use an ozone machine to blow ozone air on my cancer spot and also to make ozone water to drink. Although O3 can be dangerous, a clinical study shows there are many therapeutic benefits.
Ozone therapy has been around for more than a century. It is proven to be consistent and safe with minimal and preventable side effects. Ozone works by destroying or removing the activity of bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast and protozoa. It stimulates oxygen metabolism and activates the immune system. Ozone therapy causes an increase in the red blood cell glycolysis rate. This leads to an increase in the amount of oxygen released to the tissues. We all know that cancer hates an oxygen environment.
