There are obvious foods that can kill you, like refined sugar and carbs—but that’s not what we're going to talk about today.

Today, I’m going to cover six surprising foods that can kill you and a few potential natural antidotes.

The top deadliest foods:
1. Pufferfish (fugu)

2. Death cap mushroom

3. Korean baby octopus

4. Green potatoes

5. Raw chicken

6. Foods containing cyanide:
• The seeds or pits of apples, peaches, pears, and apricots
• Bitter almonds
• Cassava

It’s best to avoid any of the above at all costs.

If you do somehow consume death cap mushrooms, milk thistle and NAC are two potential antidotes that may help.

Methylene blue is another potential antidote that has been used to help counter cyanide poisoning.

Thanks for the warning, DB. I’m pretty sure I had salmonella poisoning about a month ago. I was so sick, but thankfully, I’ve been doing keto for a while, so my immune system was ready for battle. I really thought i was going to die. I refuse to eat chicken ever again. I’ll eat their eggs all day, though, hahaha

Wow. NAC and milk thistle save the day AGAIN! I’m stocked up on both now. I beat last year’s flu from onset to recovered in only 3 days with NAC and zinc last year. Milk thistle has entered the lineup for this year. Thanks, doc.

  • Joseph Burns says:

I would imagine we ALL could possibly be at risk eating commercialized food or any food for that matter if WE don’t know how well it’s been handled or processed. Life it’s self is a risk. We need to be extremely careful what and how much food goes in our mouths, still a risk, but we need to survive somehow, someway, without constant worrying how to survive!

It grieves me that you always put foods that contain cyanide on your list. I read “World Without Cancer” by G. Edward Griffin 25 years ago and have been eating apricot seeds in small amounts (1-7) daily since then. I taught my children to eat their apple seeds and they have made it to adulthood. : ) My parents have been through some health issues that the doctors were shocked that there was no cancer present. I’m not great at all the scientific details (that’s why I watch your videos!), but there are other compounds/enzymes that work with the cyanide to release it only when cancer is present. It’s a great cancer preventative and sometimes a cure. Oops! Did I say that?

  • CN says:

Thanks for teaching natural health instead of drugs, Dr. Berg! Happy Holidays! 🙂

  • Gaitree Ferguson says:

Thank you dr berg for the highlights on the danger of these foods. I grew up washing and cooking chicken and never get sick or spread bacteria around. I will never stop washing chicken. Its sticky and have the chicken smell. When you clean up properly then its fine.

With all due respect I don’t think you should worry about censoring, you’ve got 11.2million subscribers because you put out such interesting and factual content 🙂 thank you as always Dr. Eric Berg! I always wanted a puffer fish as a pet they’re the sweetest fishes in the world with their little smiles 😆

  • N L says:

Another excellent video. Also check out the toxin Hypoglycin found in unripened Ackee fruit (Blighia sapida). For those of you who have never tried authentic Jamaican food, which is delicious, they serve a breakfast dish frequently called “Ackee & Saltfish.” It usually includes skillet cooked plantains. Probably not a dish to be recommending on this channel, but I’ll give it a quick mention for the sake of knowledge.

  • Lee Jimmy says:

I never thought Milk Thistle can be the antidote for Death Cap Mushroom. I saw a bunch of them when hiking in Austria this summer. They are beautiful gifts from nature!

  • Carmen Bindal says:
