In this video, we’re going to take a look at hypertension. Ninety percent of all hypertension is considered essential hypertension. This means the cause is unknown. Anti-hypertensive medication is one of the most prescribed medicines in the world.

Normal blood pressure is 120/80. Research suggests a strong relationship between potassium deficiency and high blood pressure. Many people are deficient in potassium because the requirements are so high—4700 mg daily.

You need about half as much sodium as potassium, but many people consume three times as much sodium as potassium!

Potassium directly controls the tone of the vascular system. This directly affects blood pressure. Potassium also supports the endothelial layer of the arteries and helps improve insulin resistance.

Potassium supplements often only contain 99 mg of potassium, which is incredibly low considering how much potassium you actually need.

You can get potassium from salad, but you must consume around 7 to 10 cups daily. This also provides magnesium. The combination of potassium and magnesium can help reduce high blood pressure.

Diets high in carbs and sugar cause you to lose potassium. Adrenaline and cortisol deplete potassium as well.

To support healthy blood pressure levels, try increasing your salad intake. You can also look for a high-quality electrolyte powder that's high in potassium.

Excellent info Dr Berg!! Who woulda thought!! 🥴 In fact I just read that avocados 🥑 are the TOP food source for potassium — and I eat at least one per day — occasionally two! We always stock up on avocados every trip to Costco, and once they just BARELY get ripe they are placed into the vegetable compartment of our refrigerator to slow the ripening process allowing them to be eaten over the course of the next week or even two! 👍

From Healthline — Avocados are packed with nutrients, and one avocado provides roughly 15% of your daily potassium needs. They’re also rich in vitamin K and folate.

Till 2:00 a.m. then had me leave ..with some pill scrip but nothing was open at that hour .I was very distraught

    • @JoeJ-8282 says:

Avocados are awesome and delicious, at least at their PRIME ripeness point, which only lasts for a few short days, literally…

Unless, (and this is an addition to what you said about putting them in the vegetable drawer of your fridge), (avocados are actually a tropical FRUIT, BTW!), but anyway, an even MORE effective way to keep avocados for a long time in the refrigerator is when they’re just about ripe enough to use, right before then place them into a jar and completely submerge them in filtered water and tightly seal the top of the jar, then place that sealed jar with the water and avocado(s) in it into the fridge, on ANY shelf that’s convenient, and the avocado(s) that are completely submerged in the clean water this way will keep for many weeks without spoiling, or getting too ripe to use!

The key points are to make sure the avocados stay completely submerged so that NO AIR can get to them, that you always use filtered water, NOT just straight out of the tap, AND that you always thoroughly wash the outsides of the avocados BEFORE placing them into the water in the jar.

      Try it, it really works!

I eat a large popcorn sized bowl of salad everyday. I recently weighed it and it was nearly 3 lbs. It’s a raw, multi-vegetable salad consisting of 8oz of leafy greens, hand full of baby carrots, 4 portobello mushrooms, 6 shaven brussel sprouts, 1 cup broccoli tops, 2 miniature cucumbers, 1/2 cup of raw onion, 1 cup bell pepper, 1/3 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup of sauerkraut, 1/4 cup kimchi, 3 pickle wedges, salt, pepper, garlic powder, EV olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Then I eat 85 – 100g of protein (beef, salmon, sardines, and/or eggs). This makes my one meal a day. I drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning and then drink 2-3 liters of filtered water with 3 scoops of Dr Berg’s Electrolyte Powder. I also walk 8-9 miles every other day. The powder alone gives me 3,000 mg of potassium and I know the salad gives me plenty of potassium to reach 4,700.

That’s a lot of chewing. Why not cook some of the vegetables? Blanching or lightly sautéing them with garlic, will break down the cell walls and make the nutrients more bile available. Most of what you are eating gets crapped out in the toilet and your body isn’t absorbing a lot of nutrition from the raw vegetables

Natural sources of Potassium (K) are in spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, avocados, beet greens, leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, nuts, dairy, fish and eggs among other fruits, vegetables and legumes, also it’s important to point out that drinking excessive amounts of water may deplete potassium as well. Thank you 🙏🏻❤

I’ve been on blood pressure meds for a couple of years but I have been two hundred and twenty pounds overweight plus I was diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes. At my doctor’s advice i changed my diet omitting bread, rice, starches, sugar ,pasta and started eating protein and salad with no dressing except for vinegar and have been losing eight pounds per month. One of the meds I’ve been talking is Rybelsus 3mg which helps my body to lose weight. My last doctor’s visit yielded an A1C of 6.9 which was 10.2 last November and 15 two years ago. I’ve also had low kidney function so my potassium was elevated and a low sodium indication but my doctor said that my kidney function has improved. So far my weight has come down from 376 to 345 as of last month and weigh around 338 as of now. I got more weight to lose while eating healthy as my ideal weight is around 145.
