Avoid 1 Food That’s Making Your LIVER Sick! Dr. Mandell

The liver is the largest solid organ and the largest gland in the human body. It carries out over 500 essential tasks. Weighing between 3.17 and 3.66 pounds (lbs), or between 1.44 and 1.66 kilograms (kg), the liver is reddish-brown with a rubbery texture. It is situated above and to the left of the stomach and below the lungs.

The major functions of the liver include:
-Bile production: Bile helps the small intestine break down and absorb fats, cholesterol, and some vitamins. Bile consists of bile salts, cholesterol, bilirubin, electrolytes, and water.
-Absorbing and metabolizing bilirubin: Bilirubin is formed by the breakdown of hemoglobin. The iron released from hemoglobin is stored in the liver or bone marrow and used to make the next generation of blood cells.
-Supporting blood clots: Vitamin K is necessary for the creation of certain coagulants that help clot the blood. Bile is essential for vitamin K absorption and is created in the liver. If the liver does not produce enough bile, clotting factors cannot be produced.
-Fat metabolization: Bile breaks down fats and makes them easier to digest.
-Metabolizing carbohydrates: Carbohydrates are stored in the liver, where they are broken down into glucose and siphoned into the bloodstream to maintain normal glucose levels. They are stored as glycogen and released whenever a quick burst of energy is needed.
-Vitamin and mineral storage: The liver stores vitamins A, D, E, K, and B12. It keeps significant amounts of these vitamins stored. In some cases, several years’ worth of vitamins is held as a backup. The liver stores iron from hemoglobin in the form of ferritin, ready to make new red blood cells. The liver also stores and releases copper.
-Helps metabolize proteins: Bile helps break down proteins for digestion.
-Filters the blood: The liver filters and removes compounds from the body, including hormones, such as estrogen and aldosterone, and compounds from outside the body, including alcohol and other drugs.
-Immunological function: The liver is part of the mononuclear phagocyte system. It contains high numbers of Kupffer cells that are involved in immune activity. These cells destroy any disease-causing agents that might enter the liver through the gut.
-Production of albumin: Albumin is the most common protein in blood serum. It transports fatty acids and steroid hormones to help maintain the correct pressure and prevent the leaking of blood vessels.
-Synthesis of angiotensinogen: This hormone raises blood pressure by narrowing the blood vessels when alerted by production of an enzyme called renin in the kidneys.

Almost one week without sugar! I thought I couldn’t do it, but I intend to give it up! I’ve lost 42 lbs eating lower-carb Mediterranean diet-type foods and am only 10 lbs from my goal weight. HEALTH is everything. We can do this people!!!!!!!!!

    Dr. Mandell NEVER disappoints 🤗

  • @katherinem.4414 says:

You are so right on with foods that are healthy, and those that are not. And good sleep and exercise are also top on the list. My mom and dad started me on meds with doctors from my grade school years. First one seizure med at a time. Later psych meds. Now I do not know how to get off of them. All the doctors and NP’s want to do is give more meds.

    • @cynthiastraker4872 says:

And it’s sa😢they get more pay by putting on these medications they prescribed sad

    • @cora5338 says:

you need to taper your medication under your doctor’s supervision or find a functional medicine doctor to closely coordinate with him.

    • @debbiec6216 says:

I been doing that for a several years. Your stomach needs “Room Temperature ” water .
I can’t be adding anything , but straight water . I was gifted an Berkey where it filtered the water .
Because plastic bottle , the plastic inside of the bottle , leeks plastic and people end up drinking the
water anyways , which can make your inside your body sick . Influencer , Chef , Nutritionist Flavcity aka Bobby Parris mentioned to his subscribers.

    • @debbiec6216 says:

And I stopped eating toxic process foods and soda , 15 years ago .
I went straight to organic , I always check the Ingredients and read label before buying anything.
Wished I knew all this as a teenager , but they didn’t have anything like that , in those days.
Not even internet , etc .

    • @user-sb9es3ed5v says:

      Berkey?

  • @celticstar5049 says:

I have a bad liver. Can never have processed food again. Got six months to turn it around. Or I will have a heart attack or not be able to reverse the damage. Been watching your video’s and got it down in the last 3 months due to watching your video’s and taking on your advice for better health. Thank you ❤️

  • @DrDennis says:

Is not the saturated fats Doc. It’s the seed oils that kill. ❤

    • @mcdade7489 says:

      Totally agree

    • @christinaborges9369 says:

What r seed oils if u don’t mind me asking you, and why???

    • @allgoldproductions says:

@@christinaborges9369 Seed oils are the highly processed oils like Canola, Vegetable, Soybean, etc. You want to cook stuff with single origin extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, beef tallow. Seed oils are a huge contributor to inflammation in the body. Inflammation causes disease.

    • @debbiec6216 says:

That’s exactly what Flavcity aka Bobby Parris mentions on his youtube channel.
he has changed a bit , I have noticed it . He mention about eating alittle sugar ,
I say , don’t eat any , it can cause Cancer, because the cells and others changes in time
and that’s when , it slowly becomes cancerous. I have a video you might want to watch,
I have erosion esophagus , but acid reflux is the root cause . I wished I knew about this
      video 4 years ago , but honesty I didn’t know it until a 4 months ago .
Pay Close Attention to this Video , you might learn something about it .
Especially when he explain about the picture . I end up watching it a couple of times, because
this is what I have to watch for , when I have an “EGD” test . Click on the Blue Line ,it will open.

Thank you so much Dr. Mandell!! I found out two months ago that I have the beginning stages of NAFLD!! My liver enzymes were high (200) which explained my unusual fatigue, lethargy and brain fog, this diagnosis literally scared me!! I’m also prediabetic!! My doctor’s first question was “do I use Tylenol on a regular basis?” I told her I haven’t had Tylenol since last September due to CoVid!! I have however, been adding organic Turmeric to my morning eggs every day!!

I’ve started drinking lemon water first thing in the morning, I’m eating salads and more low-sugar fruit such as strawberries, blueberries etc., I’ve cut out the Turneric and processed snacks and cut down my coffee’s sugar to one teaspoon for now, I just can’t drink coffee without sugar, I don’t like Stevia or other sugars like it, and I’m happy to know that I don’t have to give up my morning coffee!! And I’ve increased my walking and working out when I can and I’m happy to say I’ve lost 10lbs so far!! My belly fat has gone down somewhat but still fighting the fupa lol!! And it’s a struggle keeping up with the produce/salads but every step you take in improving your health counts!! Wishing everyone good, or better health!! ❤🥰🙏🙏
