The #1 FOOD that Increases Blood Pressure | Dr. Mandell

Americans eat on average about 3,400 mg of sodium per day. However, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends adults limit sodium intake to less than 2,300 mg per day—that's equal to about 1 teaspoon of table salt! For children under age 14, recommended limits are even lower.

I was having BP spikes but when I went low carb and normalized my glucose levels the spikes went away. So for me it was not salt but sugar and carbs.

Thank you so much for sharing this vital information. I don’t use a lot of salt, but when I do, it’s always been non-iodized sea salt for many years, but it doesn’t contain necessary minerals like Himalayan salt. I tried Himalayan salt for a short time, but stopped when I found out it contains harmful heavy metals. Is there a trusted high quality brand that you could please recommend that is low in harmful heavy metals?

Thank you Dr Mandell for Sharing and caring for people and their health.

  • GinaR. says:

I don’t even eat regular table salt, I have adrenal insufficiency so I always have low blood pressure. It doesn’t matter what I do My blood pressure will always be low. It also depends on the health problems that you have, I only eat sea salt, or pink Himalayan salt, I don’t eat white table salt with added iodine. Since I have adrenal insufficiency, which is basically Addison’s disease, no matter what I do I’ll always have low blood pressure. It’s actually hard for me to balance water and salt due to my ACTH.

  • Susan Rand says:

I gave up table salt years ago after a bout with high blood pressure, my doctor advised to make two changes in my life, give up salt and change jobs, it’s been 30 years, I took her advice. Jobs came and went, blood pressure stabilized, life is good. Thank you Doc, I’m sharing your videos with everybody
