My wife had similar issues….take one heaping teaspoon of Psyllium Fiber in the morning and at night. You can get it in Metamucil (go with the Stevia version) or can get it with no sugar from Wonder Labs. We actually mix it from Wonder Labs into the Stevia based Metamucil for a little flavor. Mix it in water or other liquid, and drink it quickly before it solidifies. She (and I) also take Tumeric/Curcumin. Has done wonders. Plus eat a salad at least 2x weekly.

I am 67 and have a very sluggish colon. I take Metamucil 2 times a day, a probiotic supplement and before I go to bed I take Triphala. The Triphala has really helped. I heard Dr. Weil talk about this, and I googled it.

1/8 of a teaspoon/Turmeric, 1/8 of cinnamon, Green Tea, and ginger is my “go to” tea during my first meal. It definitely helps with weight loss and going 💩 I also take a refrigerated probiotic daily. Gut health is number one when it comes to regulation of hormones as well. I know this first hand with having no ovairies/cervix! No HT here 🙏Thanks Doc 🙏❤

You know, I read in the literature that adding ground black pepper increases the effective absorbtion of turmeric. I intuitively suspect that that might not be the best idea. Apparently ground black pepper inhibits the livers ability to produce a certain enzyme that inhibits turmeric absorbtion.

** ” …the liver gets rid of foreign substances by making them water-soluble so that they can be excreted, and piperine can inhibit this process so that curcumin is not excreted.”

I don’t think it is a good idea to inhibit the natural functions of tthe liver. If the liver is producing things it is doing that for a reason. Instead of adding the ground black pepper just consume ith fats.

** “Natural oils found in turmeric root and turmeric powder can enhance the bioavailability of curcumin seven- to eight-fold. What’s more, when eaten with fat, curcumin can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the lymphatic system, thereby in part bypassing the liver.”

Don’t bother your liver. Definitely don’t inhibit anything it does. Just my opinion.

I can’t use Tumeric because I have a tendency toward kidney stones. Tumeric is very high in oxalates which are a contributing ingredient to kidney stones.🤗

I worked with a woman who was proud of the fact she only had one stool once a week. The rest of us were flabbergasted. I can’t even imagine if I missed even one day. I feel grateful I have at least 2-3 daily.

  • @gholfin2124 says:

Turmeric has a higher level of absorption into the blood stream when mixed with black pepper
